NOT SPAM!!!

NOT SPAM!!!

Not a big fan of spam. I get enough of it to know I do not like it. And yet it seems some email providers feel I am a spammer. I’m not. I do not send out unsolicited emails trying to sell anyone anything. If you get email from me (and it actually is from me) then there is a reason for it. I do not even send out my newsletter anymore. Just post news on the blog and hope my clients read it and keep updated.

Some time ago, I ran into an issue sending emails to a client using AOL. Apparently AOL was blocking me due to spam. I followed their steps and procedures to get unlisted. It was corrected quickly and all seems well with them now. As far as I know.

Last week a potential new client contacted me via my RFQ form about taking on some new projects for him. All my replies to him, went into the “Bulk” folder of his Yahoo account. Meaning it was teated as spam. I tested this with my own Yahoo account and sure enough, same result. I searched through Yahoo help files but they show NO way of ensuring my messages get through (at least no way I have not already done).

At least my message got there, it just got junked. This can be overcome, simply by “white listing” my address in your Yahoo account. Then I won’t get thrown out.

Today I replied (tried to anyway) to an email from a client, whom I have had PLENTY of contact with over the past several months. When I try to reply to him, I get an immediate bounce telling me I have been blocked due to spam. ARRRGGGHHH!!! I cannot even reply to a clients email now. Sorry Syd, I will email you from another account later today.

I am now in the process of following Microsofts procedures to delist me from their spam database. Almost an hour since I submitted the form, and they have not sent me the follow up steps yet, so this could take awhile.

I apologize to anyone not getting my messages. I am not, and I do not send spam. If you feel you are getting spam from me, I have an address for you to send it to, to let me know and I will check into it asap.

Here is Creative Compulsions official info, incase you or your email provider thinks I am spamming, you can give them this info:

Thanks

Myles

Massively Updated

A quick glance at my portfolio told me I have not updated my site since early July. Being that it is October, and I KNOW I had a lot of work done between then and now, I felt it was time to update the portfolio. There are a lot of updates that need to be done, some for the Logo Gallery, some for the Flash Gallery, and lots for the Web Gallery.

But I do not have the time to update everything all at once. So I picked one and got it done. I updated the Web Gallery as it needed the most updates.

While I updated it with my recent work I also upgraded it. It is now split into segments showcasing the different options for web design. Standard HTML & PHP with CSS, XSitePro, WordPress & MovableType, and ZenCart ecommerce. This way, at a glance, everyone can tell how a site was built, and what I have done and can do, in various platforms.

There were 11 new sites added to the gallery.

  • 1 Site Added to the Standard Web Design section.
  • 5 New sites added to the XSitePro section.
  • 4 New sites in the Wordpress and MovableType section.
  • 1 New site under the Zencart Ecommerce section.

That brings the total up to 53 web sites designed since Creativwe Compulsions started. AND there are still a few more that are in the works right now and not yet ready to go intot the portfolio, AND some more that will begin in the next couple of months. Busy, Busy, Busy.

Possibly next week I will update the other galleries as well. There is 1 logo to add, and 3 Flash entries to put up.

Happy Thanksgiving To everyone.
Enjoy your Turkey Day!

Almost Funny

It really is almost funny.

I have had issue with this blog going on for months now. Could not post comments, could not accept track backs, then I tried to upgrade to MT4 (twice) and had issue both times. Latest upgrade took 3 days to get running, and I still had problems with comments and track backs not working.

I finally get it up and running today, with comments being allowed and track backs being allowed (with approval) and guess what, within an hour I get 15 sam track backs. None were published and all flagged as spam, so no big deal, but seriously, were the spam bots sitting there waiting for me to open them up?

Almost funny.

Gotham Quest 2

If “The Amazing Race” and “The DaVinci Code” ever had a love-child, its name would be “GothamQuest”. GothamQuest is a one-of-a-kind, competitive elimination race around the island of Manhattan to a number of New York City landmarks. Throughout the day-long race, teams receive “clue cards”, which must be deciphered to reveal the identity of the City landmark represented by each clue. Teams must head to these landmarks, where they will be greeted by a race “sentry”, who will then provide the next clue card for the next landmark. As the race progresses, teams that fall behind the pack are eliminated from the competition and at the end of the race, only one pair will be crowned “ultimate champions”. Chances are, if you have reached this website, you might have seen at least one of the GothamQuest teams running right past you in a race.

Some time ago a person was referred to me by a client whose site I just completed. He was in need of having a Power Point presentation converted into a Flash intro for a web site. It needed to be exactly like the presentation with perfect timing to the background music.

The project went well, and once completed he decided I was the right person to develop the full web site.

Gotham Quest is a great looking event based in New York. Based on the name, and the design of the intro, I knew a dark and Gothic site would be needed. Using, Black, White, and Grey I built just such a site amongst a New York silhouette, with hints of Red and Blue to bring out the accents.

In the end, Gotham Quest has a suitably gothic theme web site. There is a Flash intro, and will soon have a forum and blog set up, along with team profiles and race information.

Compass Property Investments

Discover how you could potentially EARN UP TO $100,000 OR MORE PER YEAR IN RETIREMENT INCOME from fully managed, rent guaranteed NZ investment property - regardless of market conditions, high interest rates or changes to New Zealand investment property tax treatment!

Near the begining of the year I read a post on the XSitePro forums about a person looking for a "template" to be designed for him. That frum has some great resources and some very prolific template designers, so he would have been in good hands with any one of them. However, after reading his post I got the impression he was not looking for a template at all, but a custom site designed within XSitePro, that he could then work on.

Sensing he wanted something different, I decided to send him a private message to confirm and to see if I could help him get what he needed. After a bit of discussion narrowed down exactly what was needed, and he accepted my offer to work on it.

There was a delay of a few months while he prepared the content for the site, and decided on what feature he would like. Once that was all laid out I began working on his custom site design, keeping in mind it would be built within XSP.

The result is a totally unique and custom site, that does not have all the tell tale signs of a common XSitePro site. It is custom, unique and one of a kind, and designed to be easily updatble.

The design was a success and once all elelemnts are finally put into place, I am sure the site will be a success as well.
