Mr. Bones Pizza Winnipeg

Mr. Bones Pizza

Client: Harold Brazil
Company: Mr. Bones Pizza
Site: www.mrbonespizza.com

Mr. Bones pizza was an institution in Winnipeg. I used to order from the original McPhillips location and, everyone I knew ordered from there and I even had friends who worked there. It was a staple in the community until they closed down about a decade ago.

When Harold contacted me about building a website to promote the return of Mr. Bones I was excited. Bringing great pizza back to Winnipeg and I get to help promote it with a new website? Awesome!

We started with a teaser site. Just to help build the excitement. Logo, coming soon note, social media links and a newsletter form.

From there a basic info site evolved to talk about the business after they opened the doors. While the full site was being developed behind closed doors.

Last Friday we launched the full site with all its pizza goodness (and more). Features a full menu with everything they offer, delicious photos, prices, exceptional deals and an integrated Facebook feed.

And it is a fully responsive design that looks and works great on all devices. Computer, tablet or smart phone. They all let you experience the full site. No limits.

Manitoba Motorcycle Mayhem

Manitoba Motorcycle Mayhem

Client – Shirly Rubiletz (Sky)
Company – Manitoba Motorcycle Mayhem
Site – manitobamotorcyclemayhem.ca

Tasks – Sky is working hard at launching a new motorcycle rally here in Manitoba. There is a lot of interest in this event and a tremendous amount of work involved in putting it all together. And anything Manitoba related is something I am interested in. Especially if it involves motorcycles (I am sensing a pattern here).

I offered to build the site for the upcoming rally, starting with a teaser site to promote the pre-rally bash, the sponsors, the bands, and start building awareness of the upcoming rally. With a full site in the works that will promote the rally and everything/everyone involved in it. Current site is a wicked looking biker page with a count down timer. Just enough to tease and entice.

River City Rides

River City Rides

Client – Me
Company – River City Rides
Site – RiverCityRides.ca

Tasks – Motorcycles have always been a passion of mine. Ever since I was a kid I was fascinated by them. That fascination grew as I got older. When I was a teenager I went on a family trip to South Dakota (not for Sturgis). It was there that I saw the biggest, coolest bike I have ever seen. It was an emerald green Boss Hoss, with a monstrous V8 engine from a Chevy Corvette. Yep, it was a beast and I was in love.

After that trip I started reading every biker magazine I could get my hands on. I loved custom bikes. The more custom the better. My walls were postered with wild, wicked tricked out motorcycles. I knew, at some point, I would be doing something with motorcycles. I just did not know what.

Skip ahead 20 years and here we are. I have always been kicking around new business ideas with my buddy Karol. Always trying to find something new, adventurous and successful. Most ideas come and go, but when this one came around it stuck. It didn’t just stick, it absorbed us. THIS was the one. This is the business we knew we wanted most. We would be Winnipeg’s Motorcycle Rental Store. And thus River City Rides Inc. was born. River City Rides is a motorcycle rental store and retail store. We rent motorcycles and sell a large variety of motorcycle clothing and gear (jackets, helmets, boots, gloves, etc.). We opened our door in late June of 2013 and have been going strong ever since.

Seeing as we are a new business we need to build our brand. Get an identity that sticks.

I designed and built a website in WordPress that looks great and is easy to use. It is a responsive design so can be used on all devices, has an integrated shopping cart so people can order products online and even has online motorcycle booking. Clients can book their next motorcycle rental right from the website. With a lot of effort in coding and building the site, writing the content and promoting it we have brought our relatively new site to the top of the search engines. Other motorcycle shops who have had sites for years, show up after us in search engines. This is important for River City Rides to keep at the top and build the brand.

In addition to the website, I continued the branding with matching business cards, store signage, posters, flyers and advertising. Lots of work, but well worth the effort.

Winnipeg Comedy Hypnotist Matao

Client – Matthew Prychun (MATAO)
Company – Matao Inc.
Site – Matao.ca

Tasks – Matthew had an existing web site that was built in Flash, and he was pretty happy with the site in terms of looks. But he needed more.

The site was difficult to update properly, with photos, posters and events. When he wanted to add images to the gallery, they never looked the same as other images, and the calendar was a basic Google Calendar embedded into the site.

He needed it to be easier for him to update, easier to add images that all look and work right, a proper calendar and most of all it needed to work in all browsers and mobile devises. At the time, his site did none of that.

Since he had been pleased with the current design, I took a few screen shots of the site, then rebuilt it all in CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and HTML5, then built it on the wordPress CMS platform. I made  a few design tweaks along the way, but very minor. Most of the work was rebuilding the site using code, and then redoing the content for each page.

It is a very unique style of WordPress site, as it does not use any normal menu, but rather an image based menu on the bottom of the page (Matao is very photogenic :D).

Once the site was online, further enhancements were done to make it a more functional website, by expanding on the written content where none existed before, adding videos, and putting in proper meta tag information and alt tags, user commenting as well as adding high-resolution Event Poster templates for venues to download.

The site was good, but now it is great. Fully loaded and ready to properly promote Winnipeg’s Master Mind Hypnotist.

Enjoy the show from the audience and watch Canada’s Premiere Stage Hypnotist at work. Matao, Winnipeg’s Master Mind Hypnotist, has been entertaining crowds since he was just 12 years old, and at the age of 15 he began to travel and tour and at the time one of Canada’s Youngest Hypnotists. Matao is currently Manitoba’s only certified stage Hypnotist and Hypnotherapist with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology.

PS: He is big on charity. All show proceeds go directly to Cancer Care Manitoba.

The CMMG

The CMMG

Client – The CMMG (Coalition of Manitoba Motorcycle Groups)
Site – cmmg.org

Tasks – I am a HUGE motorcycle nut and the CMMG is a great organization in Manitoba helping to fight the good fight for motorcyclists all around Manitoba. I have been a CMMG member for several years and in one of their monthly newsletters they put out a call for some web site help. I, of course, jumped at the chance to help them out.

After meeting with the board and discussing what they needed I went to work on overhauling the site. My goal was to keep it clean, easy to read, easy to navigate and looking great. It needed to have sections to post events, such as meetings, sections to promote motorcycle events in Manitoba and a section for business members to be listed.

I came up with a great design that covers everything they need and puts a real emphasis on their slogan. Built it in WordPress so they can keep it updated with ease. Then launched the brand new site, and everyone loves the new look. A great new professional site for a worthy organization.
