In Manitoba, Father’s Day arrives at precisely the right moment. The prairies are free from winter (usually), the lakes are calling out to us and the evenings finally stretch long past dinner. Fresh-cut grass and the familiar scents of barbecues come drifting over backyard fences. This is not a day designed for formal suits and ties. It’s the day for fresh air, good food and a slow relaxed pace.
For many, the question is not whether to celebrate — but how to do it meaningfully. The modern father often claims he needs nothing. What he is really saying is that what he needs the most isn’t another object; it’s time, shared experiences and the quiet luxury of being appreciated.
