BAD EMAIL! Bad. Sit. Stay. Good Boy.

I wish it was as easy to train email as it was to train a dog. Or at least train the “master”. Just days after my first email tragedy I am suffering from yet another loss. Sniff.

I do a lot of emailing via web mail. Then when I get back to my regular computer I download it all and sort it accordingly. Problem with downloading and sorting accordingly is that once I download it to my computer, it’s gone. It is then on my computer, and my computer alone. This means I cannot access it from elsewhere, and I cannot retrieve messages I accidentally deleted (as I recently did).

So, I decided to enable IMAP for mail, so my desktop and web mail clients will always sync up and I will have a copy of everything wherever I go. I use IMAP elsewhere and it works great.

Yesterday I configured my web mail for IMAP.

Today I log in, and immediately notice things are missing.
Trash Folder – Gone
Spam Folder – Gone
Drafts Folder – Gone
Sent Mail Folder – Gone.
Saved Mail Folder – Gone.
Clients Folder – Gone.

A few days ago, which the click of a radio button I deleted a massive amount of email, some important, some not. IT pissed me off. I blogged about it. Yesterday, I repeated the event in another program.

Someone smack me and tell me to leave things alone. Now, I truly am starting from scratch with all my email. Arrrgh!
